Vence : our habits and favorite places

Hello everyone!

In this article, you’ll find a selection of our favorite places in Vence ❤️ as well as a presentation of the little habits we’ve picked up in the town’s shops.

Of course, I’ll be sure to add to this address book as I make new discoveries 😀 !

For a more general presentation of the town of Vence, I invite you to read the article dedicated to new arrivals.

We regularly go shopping in Vence.

Easily accessible from Tourrettes sur Loup, I particularly like the shopping area near the Chagall parking lot, where I can find almost everything I need.

  • The small Casino🥫 for quick purchases or extra shopping. Please note: a small, convenient parking lot is located in the basement of the Casino.
  • The Biocoop 🍅, where you’ll find the usual store as well as a delicatessen a few meters further on. The salads and slices of pizza here are delicious, so go for it!
  • Aux Saveurs Retrouvées bakery 🥐 it’s all good! Chef Denis Petesic is collecting awards: best croissant 2022 by Les Etoiles de Mougins, best bakery in France PACA 2022…
  • La boucherie de l’Etoile 🥩 Always good advice for your barbecues on the go or your receptions.
  • Le Tournebroche rotisserie 🍗 for a spit-roasted chicken and potatoes. Yummy!
  • The Poste pharmacy, the largest in Vence to my knowledge, where you’ll find a wide selection of parapharmacy products.
  • The NINI salad bar 🥗 for tasty poke bowls and salads prepared on site,
  • The new shoemaker Mon petit cordonnier 👞,
  • The florist Fleurs de la Passion 💐,
  • And La Poste 📦, for sending/receiving parcels, as well as the cash dispenser…

When I’m closer to the historic center – to visit my hairdresser, for example (Franck Provost 💇🏻‍♀️) – I take the opportunity to shop in the stores near Place du Grand Jardin.

  • The Maison Palanque bakery, I’ll talk about a few lines later…. Try their specialty: the almond cracker 👌!
  • La pâtisserie Marianne for its delicious chocolates 🍫 and pastries.
  • La boucherie Vence Viandes, I like to get good cuts of meat there 🥩 or catered portions like their tabbouleh!
  • The tiny Monoprix 🛒 for extra shopping.
  • La Pharmacie du Grand Jardin.

Of course, these lists are not exhaustive or set in stone, but they do reflect our habits to date. Once again, I welcome your discoveries to add to them!

And inevitably, as new arrivals in the midst of home renovation, we also spend a lot of time in DIY stores, garden centers and nurseries.

I’ll come back to this subject in more depth, but in the meantime, you should know that in Vence, we’re lucky enough to have the shops listed below. We visit them regularly!

  • Mr Bricolage 🛠, the local store par excellence; prices aren’t as attractive as at Leroy Merlin or Castorama, but it’s still very practical.
  • Gamm vert 🪴, we go there to buy seeds for sowing, plants or maintenance products (garden and pool).
  • La pépinière Gaudissart 🌴, where you’ll find lots of trees, fruit trees and plants.

On the main square, Place du Grand Jardin, you’ll find a number of terraces where you can enjoy a coffee, ice cream or dinner in the evening.

If you enter the historic town through the Porte du Peyra (pedestrian zone), you’ll find the pretty square of the same name ⛲️.

Our favorite ❤️: the little restaurant/tea room Thé au rendez-vous with its delicious “Fait Maison” menu! You can enjoy your lunches and snacks indoors or on the terrace overlooking the square.

Then, walking towards the town hall, you’ll discover the Place Clémenceau 🏫. Here again, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and cafés.

Our favorite ❤️: the restaurant Le Clémenceau 👨‍🍳 with its simple cuisine, friendly team and large shaded terrace, very pleasant in fine weather.

Avenue Marcellin Maurel, which runs alongside the old center, is also a lively place, with its many shops and restaurants.

Our favorites for takeaway dining ❤️ :

La Saharienne 🐪 for good couscous,

Kitch’ Gourmet 🍕 for quality pizzas and burgers; try the truffle fingers, they’re a treat (delivery available)!

Our favorite for a quick lunch or snack ❤️: Maison Palanque 🧁 for a good sandwich, salad or delicious pastry (I love their little financiers 😋!). If you’re in a gourmet mood, let yourself be tempted by one of their sorbets.

Note: Avenue Marcellin Maurel is also the venue for summer shopping evenings every Tuesday 🛍.

Here are some of my favorite shopping addresses in Vence. I look forward to hearing your recommendations!

L’Atelier Français, a 100% Made in France concept store that also houses a charming tearoom. Here you can enjoy tasty snacks (cookies, brookies, madeleines…) prepared by the Spelt restaurant in Tourrettes sur Loup.

-The Outfit Boutique: Here you’ll find a high-end selection of ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories. We pass by when we go to dinner at Le Clémenceau and it’s rare that I don’t see a little nugget 😄.

-La Poterie du Peyra: I immediately fell in love with the little olive trees 🪴 on display in the Place du Peyra! The store also offers a pretty selection of kitchenware, textiles and home decor.

And what are your favorite places in Vence? I look forward to hearing from you!

See you soon!

Julie
